Sky is a 24 year old QH. She's been used in 4H and rides both English and Western. Great beginners horse! Excellent under saddle, great with feet, very easy to catch/lead and loads like a dream. One vice...she doesn't tie. (Yet) It is unknown what happened in her recent past to create her fear of being tied. That being said, she accepts the saddle just fine as long as she's not tied to anything. (And we are working on this issue as well) UTD with vaccines, wormer and teeth have been floated. She's still gaining some weight from when she came in. Currently being ridden on trail for up to 3 hours...a terrific horse!

Health: Intact (Needs to be Fixed), Vaccinations Current

Sunshine is an 18 year old Arab/Pony. She is great under saddle. She's still putting on weight as she came in very thin. She stands ties, saddles nicely, great with her feet and is very easy to catch/lead. She has a scar on her left hind leg that has been evaluated. It is from a prior injury and is not a cause of any lameness. The vet did mention mild arthritis in her hind legs and stated that being ridden consistently is best for her. He said to avoid circles, trail is perfect. She is an incredible mount and is currently being ridden for up to 3 hours (1-2 times per week) in the Saguaro National Monument West. She is terrific in all gaits. ... (Read More)Current on vaccines, wormer and teeth have been floated. (Less)

Horse    Age: Adult

Leisha is a 17yr Arabian that stands at 15.3HH. She was used for breeding and show. Trainer has been working with her and she has come long way! She has done great under saddle on and off property. Pretty quite and calm and no issues leaving the herd. She would do best with any rider intermediate or above . She is very smart and is quick to pick things up. Her tongue does stick out a bit from a slight twisted jaw but doesn't affect her with bits or eating in anyway. Leisha is getting her teeth done every 6 months to help with her jaw and is UTD on all shots. Doesn't always like to give back feet up for farriers but isn't bad and is getting ... (Read More)better. Nervous loading in trailer but if given a little time gets right in. She is ready to finish up on trails and looking for her new forever home! Adoption Fee: $1,500 (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Horse in Arizona
Horses can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. Horses are beautiful, romantic animals that many people love. Sadly, however, horses are being neglected, abused, and abandoned at an alarming rate. The reasons a horse would need to be rescued are quite varied. Some horse owners in the Western U.S. have lost their homes and land to foreclosure, leaving nowhere for their horses to go. These horses are sometimes abandoned in the plains and deserts, where they often die of slow exposure. Droughts, rising food and fuel prices, and other economic pressures mean that some owners can no longer afford to feed and care for their horses. Other horses are purchased by inexperienced people for sentimental reasons or as gifts for children, but their owners are unprepared for the ongoing expense and involvement of caring for the horses.

Like horses, donkeys and mules (sterile hybrids of a horse and a donkey) have their own charm and usefulness. However, these animals have also been affected by hay shortages and some have sadly become victims of abuse or neglect.
